Murdered couple found stabbed,  bound in bathroom

The bodies of a Durban couple were found in the bathroom of their Verulam home north of the city on Monday.

Dhir Roy Singh, 68 was found with stab wounds after security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) entered his Ndwedwe Road home in Cottonlands after breaking down the door.

His 60-year-old live-in girlfriend Kay was found strangled and dumped in the bathtub.

RUSA’s Prem Balram said his company received a call from a family member seeking assistance after he looked through a window and noticed blood on the bedroom floor.

“Reaction Officers were dispatched to the home and upon arrival found that all doors leading into the home were locked. The lock on a security gate leading to the veranda was forced open,” said Balram.

He said officers climbed through an open window and found a pool of blood covered with a towel at the entrance of the bedroom.

“A blood trail led our officers to the bathroom which was locked. We found a Stanley knife believed to have been used in the murder, in the living room. The house was ransacked.”

He said a television and Singh’s green Toyota Conquest with registration LCD 560 GP was stolen.

The couple were last seen at 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

Police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the killings.
